(Alliance News) - Open Orphan PLC has launched a data-focused platform with clinical, immunological, virological and digital biomarkers, it said on Friday.

The Disease in Motion platform, launched by subsidiary hVIVO, has "multiple infectious disease applications" and will be used by end users including big tech, wearables, pharma and biotech companies.

The pharmaceutical clinical research firm claims to have one of the most comprehensive databanks ever created for infectious diseases.

"The Disease in Motion platform includes data from cutting edge wearables that are applicable to a wide variety of end users including big tech, wearables, pharma and biotech companies," said Executive Chairman Cathal Friel.

"As volunteers remain under close observation prior to viral challenge, during disease progression and until resolution, data is captured across the full time-course of the infection, yielding possible insights into the body's response to infection.

"The Disease in Motion platform currently spans several conditions with plans to expand this going forward."

Shares in Open Orphan were up 6.3% at 42.64 pence in London on Friday.
