(Alliance News) - Hipgnosis Songs Fund Ltd on Friday said Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin' has this week hit the one billion stream landmark on Spotify.

Hipgnosis co-owns the rights to 'Don't Stop Believin'' as a result of its interest in the Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain and Journey catalogues.

The investment company offering exposure to songs said Journey's Don't Stop Believin' became only the second classic record to ever achieve this milestone, alongside Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

"Across all services the song is streamed almost 10 million times every week. As streaming hits all-time highs, this demonstrates the enduring power of classic proven songs and the public demand for them," said Merck Mercuriadis, founder of Hipgnosis Songs Fund.

Hipgnosis Songs Fund shares were trading 0.2% lower in London on Friday morning at 114.78 pence each.
