Director Changes January 17-21
John Cousins has resigned as a director of Baring Emerging Europe (BEE). His connection with this fund dates back to 1994.

There are a number of directorate changes at Edinburgh Worldwide (EWI), effective February 1, 2010. David Coltman will step down as Chairman but remain on the board. He has held the role since the investment trust’s inception in 1998, when it launched following the reconstruction of Dunedin Worldwide Investment Trust. Separately, he is relinquishing his role as Chairman of Eredene Capital PLC (ERE), a specialist investor in Indian infrastructure. David Reid will be taking over as Chairman of Edinburgh Worldwide, whose involvement with the fund dates back to 1996; he has also been on the board since the fund’s inception. As a result, he will give up his role as Chairman of the Audit & Management Engagement Committee and position of Senior Independent Director. Jake Melville will take the former position and the Hon. Kim Fraser the latter. Despite these changes, the only new face, relatively speaking, is Melville. Although two new non-executive appointments were made in December of last year.

John Peter Williams has sold his entire holding (50,000 shares) in Electra Private Equity (ELTA). He is due to step down from the fund’s board at the end of February. As previously reported, Geoffrey Cullinan joined the board at the start of this year but we have yet to see him take a stake in the company.

David Staples has joined the board of Henderson Far East Income (HFEL) as a non-executive director and Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Richard Franklin has been appointed a non-executive director of Impax Asian Environmental Markets (IAEM). We believe this is his first such appointment to the board of a closed-end fund.

Paul Teleki has retired as a director of JPMorgan Russian Securities (JRS) and is no longer a director of a listed company. He took up a directorship at this company in 2002.

Egerton John Wood will be joining the board of Keystone (KIT) as a non-executive director on March 8.

Peter Lewin has retired as a director of Real Estate Investors (RLE), thus ending his association with quoted companies.

We’re pleased to see newly-appointed non-executive director Jonathan Taylor buying shares in Standard Life European Private Equity (SEP). He joined the board in December 2010

Private equity company Strathdon Investments (STV) has appointed Panos Loizou as a director. At present, this is his only public company directorship but he is also a director of three non-listed companies. Meanwhile, David Gamble has resigned as a non-executive director, although he retains such a position at four other closed-end funds. He had been a director at Strathdon since 2005.

Eitan Milgram has been appointed to the board of Treveria (TRV), making this the fourth such position he holds. Rossi Raucher has stepped down after just 20 days as a non-executive director, although he had been the non-executive chairman throughout 2010. Both are also non-executive directors of Clean Energy Brazil CEB).
