Find What You Need, Fast
The most obvious aspect of the revised site is the cleaner, easier-to-navigate pages. We now have a clear tab structure across the top of every page so you can quickly get to the topic that interests you. We also added a fund search box and a general search box at the top left of every page, so, no matter where you are on the site, you can easily fin
d what you’re looking for. The fund search box itself is much improved—it now generates a list of funds that match your entry as you type, and also lets you search by ISIN codes.
We’ve created a number of pre-selected fund lists, easily accessible through the links on the “Morningstar’s Best” table in the middle of the homepage. These give you quick access to highly rated funds across a variety of categories. Next to this, you’ll see a clear listing of all the tools we offer to help you make the most of your investments. From our fund screener to our fund comparison tool, they’re all now easily accessible from the homepage.
On our new funds cover page, you can gain quick access to top past performers over various time periods, and use our interactive style box graphic to quickly identify funds whose latest portfolios are dominated by a particular investment style. You’ll also find pre-populated funds screens that highlight offerings with certain characteristics at the bottom of the home page and funds cover page.
Life & Pension Data
Morningstar are building what we think will be the premier life and pension database in the UK, and we have already collected data on over 4,000 fund classes. This is just a starting point, but you can see what we have now and check our progress by clicking on the Life and Pensions tab at the top of any page. We know this data is important to UK investors, and we are committed to expanding it considerably as we move forward.
Coming Soon: Qualitative Fund Analysis
We aren’t done yet. In the coming months, you’ll see further improvements to the site and even richer content. Most notably, we’ll shortly begin to provide qualitative analysis of individual OEICs and unit trusts. We’ve been analysing funds for more than 20 years in the States, and we intend to offer UK investors the same type of independent, objective analysis that is synonymous with the Morningstar name in the U.S. Our aim is to tell you whether a fund is good or bad at what it does, how it might be used in a portfolio, if at all, and whether it’s value for money in terms of the fees it charges. We won’t shy away from criticism, and we will always put the interests of fund investors first and foremost in the information and opinions we provide.
Enjoy the new site and please don’t hesitate to let us know what you think.
