(Alliance News) - Seplat Energy PLC on Tuesday said Emeka Onwuka will retire as an executive director on Wednesday, after previously announcing he would retire as chief financial officer from May 21.

The Nigeria-focused oil and gas producer also announced the appointment of Eleanor Adaralegbe, who will succeed Onwuka as executive director from Wednesday and and as CFO from May 21.

Seplat Energy said Adaralegbe is an "accomplished finance executive with over 30 years of expertise, particularly in the oil and gas industry". She has already held roles in the company, including as vice president of finance.

"The board is confident that her wealth of experience and expertise will be vital in steering Seplat Energy towards future success," said Chair Udoma Udo Udoma.

Shares in Seplat Energy were up 2.4% to 170.50 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
