(Alliance News) - Haydale Graphene Industries PLC on Monday said it had signed a contract to provide engineering support to hydrogen power start-up Viritech Ltd.

Nano-material producer Haydale will support Viritech with "consulting engineering support services, including pressure vessel design, structural analysis, and material science analysis".

Shares in Ammanford, Wales-based Haydale were up 2.8% at 7.09 pence in London on Monday morning trading.

"We are excited to be working with Viritech on the first of what we expect to be a number of projects that will help unlock the pathway to hydrogen propulsion," commented Haydale Chief Executive Keith Broadbent.

"Our role with Viritech brings together our expertise in functionalised nano materials and experience in lightweight, low-permeability hydrogen storage tanks and complements our work with the Advance Propulsion Centre's Automotive Transformation Fund."

The two companies will work together on the testing and development of type four structural composite pressure vessels for hydrogen storage. This initial project will begin in September and is scheduled to last for six months, Haydale noted.
