(Alliance News) - Microsoft Inc on Monday said it is teaming with Darktrace PLC to provide sophisticated cybersecurity services.

Among the "critical areas" of cybersecurity tie-up will focus on, is email security, workflows and data integration.

"Our security products align perfectly with Microsoft's, allowing us to build even greater confidence among our mutual customers that their business, data and staff are protected," said Dan Fein, Darktrace's director of Email Security Products.

"As these attacks get more sophisticated, employee education and awareness are not enough. The answer lies in technology. With a dynamic understanding of the business, Cyber AI detects subtle indicators of attack and stops novel threats on the first encounter. This capability is crucial in an era where it is impossible to predict where the next attack will come from or what it will look like."

Cambridge-based Darktrace uses AI that can autonomously detect and respond to cyber theats.

The company made its London Stock Exchange debut in late-April.

Darktrace shares closed up 4.8% at 353.00 pence each in London on Monday, valuing it at GBP2.45 billion, and up 41% from its 250p IPO price.

Microsoft shares were down 0.8% at USD250.41 each in New York on Monday afternoon.
