(Alliance News) - Law Debenture Corp PLC on Tuesday said it has agreed to acquire the company secretarial unit of Konexo UK, a division of London-based law practice Eversheds Sutherland International LLP, for GBP20 million cash.
The London-based investment trust and professional services firm said the acquisition is in line with its strategy to grow its independent professional services business, known as IPS, and is expected to be completed by the end of January 2021.
For its financial year ended April 30, the company secretarial unit, or CSS, reported revenue of GBP6.2 million and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of GBP2.2 million. The team transferring over has 55 employees, with 15 in London, one in Hong Kong and the remainder in Manchester.
Law Debenture Chief Executive Denis Jackson said: "The acquisition of CSS is an exciting and value-creating opportunity for Law Debenture and is consistent with our clearly stated strategy. While IPS has a proven record of organic growth over recent years, we have remained alert to opportunities to accelerate our growth. This is an important step in the continued execution of IPS' strategy that is both strategically and financially compelling with attractive longer-term revenue synergy opportunities."
Law Debenture said it expects to announce its full-year results for 2020 on February 26, 2021.
Shares in Law Debenture were up 3.0% at 636.24 pence in London on Tuesday.
