Whether you’re a newcomer to the world of investing or a seasoned investor, Morningstar’s Portfolio Manager is a straightforward and sophisticated tool that enables you to create, track and manage your portfolio.

We offer two different types of portfolio: Watchlist Portfolios can be used as a tracking tool for assets that you already hold or are considering adding to your portfolio; Transaction Portfolios allow you to also manage specific buy and sell portfolio transactions. Both enable you to manage equity, fund and cash holdings, compare your portfolio to a chosen benchmark, track individual and overall gains and losses, monitor risk and diversification, and read news and commentary related to your holdings.

Subscribing to Morningstar.co.uk Premium also allows you to make use of Morningstar’s X-Ray tool. X-Ray drills down into your portfolio’s funds to display what assets they actually own, presenting you with a comprehensive analysis of your portfolio, including asset allocation, sector weightings, investment style, regional distribution, bond and equity statistics, and potential holdings overlap.

You can save up to five portfolios on Morningstar.co.uk. Perhaps you invest in a company pension, do some investing of your own on the side or as part of a SIPP, and also run an ISA: Are you confident that your combined investments aren’t duplicates, investing in similar sectors and regions and therefore reducing your overall diversification? X-Raying your portfolio can provide you with a comprehensive answer in just one click. Or maybe you don’t yet invest but are considering dipping your toe into the water: Use Portfolio Manager to create a fantasy portfolio and monitor the diversification benefits and performances of your potential holdings. In each case, you can set up e-mail alerts as an easy way to keep track of important changes to your portfolios.

Not sure which investment vehicles suit your needs? Make the most of Morningstar Research with a Premium subscription, giving you access to the independent analysis of Morningstar's more than 270 analysts worldwide. Morningstar Research addresses not only the performance of stocks and funds most commonly bought by investors, but also drills down into their management, fees and dividend yield, outlook and prospective earnings, as well as that security's potential role in your portfolio.

Portfolio Manager is free to use—simply register at Morningstar.co.uk to save your portfolio so that you can revisit it at your convenience. Access Portfolio Manager and all our other investing tools, including X-Ray, Fund Compare, Find Similar and Asset Allocator, by visiting our Tools page.
