Audit committee

The audit committee is responsible for the co-ordination of the annual audit, monitoring the integrity of the financial statements of the company, and monitoring and reviewing the external auditor's independence, objectivity and effectiveness. The audit committee is also responsible for reviewing the requirement for an internal control function.
Alternatively, the accountancy practice that performs the official examination (audit) of the company's accounts.
