Cyclicals

Companies whose performance moves in line with the general health of the economy. Share prices are strong when growth is good but suffer severely during a recession. Examples are automobiles, construction, and manufacturing companies. These include aerospace and aerospace industries, building supplies, industrial-building products, business equipment, chemicals, machinery (both light and industrial), metals fabrication (iron, steel, coal, and rare metals), paper and packaging, and photo equipment. Some examples of companies in this sector include BAE Systems, Boeing, Canon, Rio Tinto, Rolls Royce and Travis Perkins.
