(Alliance News) - German inflation is expected to reach 10% in September, the latest flash estimate from the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, said on Thursday.
In August, the consumer price index stood at 7.9%. In July, it was 7.5%.
The harmonised index of consumer prices - which allows for EU-wide comparison - is expected to reach 10.9%, however, an increase of 2.2% against the previous month.
The CPI reading includes household expenditure on owner-occupied housing, games of chance and broadcasting fees, in contrast to the HICP.
Energy prices, in particular, have increased markedly since the war started in Ukraine and have had a considerable impact on the high inflation rate, Destatis said.
Energy prices were 44% higher in September 2022 than in September 2021.
The end of both the fuel discount period and the EUR9 ticket availability, presumably, had an impact on the inflation rate in September, the statistics office added.
The final results for September 2022 will be released on October 13.
