(Alliance News) - Vaccinated travellers could soon be allowed to travel to the US from the UK and EU, the Financial Times reported Monday.

US President Joe Biden is expected to announce the policy shift on Monday, putting an end to an 18-month travel ban first put in place by Donald Trump.

Three people with knowledge of the policy told the Financial Times that Monday's announcement will mean that fully vaccinated passengers will be able to travel from November onwards once the ban is lifted.

The FT reported the move will be part of a wider travel policy.

Under the current policy, only US citizens, their immediate families, green card holders and those with national interest exemptions can travel to the US if they have been in the UK or EU in the previous 14 days.
