(Alliance News) - Centrica PLC on Tuesday said it has agreed to sell a gas power plant site in Peterborough, England, to an affiliate of US-based private equity firm Rockland Capital LP.

The Windsor, England-based energy provider sold the site for GBP20 million. The sale is expected to be completed before September.

The site includes freehold land, a 245 megawatt open cycle gas turbine and a 49 megawatt reciprocating gas engine. Following the sale, Centrica will continue to implement optimisation services at the Peterborough site.

"The sale is consistent with Centrica's strategy to become a simpler, leaner group focused on delivering for its customers and its target to be net zero by 2045," the company said.

Centrica shares were trading up 0.2% at 54.76 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
