(Alliance News) - Virgin Money UK PLC said Monday it hired Clifford Abrahams from Dutch lender ABN Amro Bank to be chief financial officer, starting in March next year.

Abrahams will replace Interim CFO Enda Johnson. Abrahams has been working as CFO at ABN AMRO Bank since 2017 and before that was CFO at Dutch insurer Delta Lloyd. He also has held senior finance roles at Aviva PLC and at the beginning of his career worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley.

Virgin Money UK Chair David Bennett said: "Clifford is a highly experienced financial services CFO and brings a wealth of expertise to the group to support us in delivering our strategy."

Abrahams said Virgin Money "is an exciting company with strong foundations and unique opportunities to disrupt the UK banking industry."

Shares in Virgin Money UK were 1.4% at 139.95 pence on Tuesday in London.
