(Alliance News) - Yamana Gold Inc on Thursday said it has received approval to begin trading in the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange.

The company, already listed in the US and Canada, is not raising any equity during the listing process, it said.

Yamana, one of Canada's biggest gold producer, back in September said that in addition to its other listings on the New York Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange, it believes that a listing on the LSE will bring European investors on to the company's share register.

Its stock was up 5.1% at USD5.83 each in New York on Thursday afternoon, giving it a market capitalisation of USD5.55 billion.

The company is set to begin trading in London on Tuesday morning.

"We are excited to begin trading on the London Stock Exchange and offer UK and European investors exposure to a pure-play senior gold producer with a high-quality asset portfolio in mining-friendly jurisdictions in the Americas, offering a unique investment opportunity," Chief Executive Officer Daniel Racine said.
