(Alliance News) - Ireland's factory gate inflation fell in January, according to the Central Statistics Office on Friday.

Ireland's wholesale price index fell by 1.0% in January to 90.3 compared to 91.2 in December. This compares to a month-on-month increase of 0.2% in December and a 5.0% jump in November.

On a year-on-year basis, price index decreased by 4.3% in January.

The annual decline in January was largely driven by a 5.8% drop in prices of intermediate goods - excluding energy, capital goods, durable consumer goods and non-durable consumer goods. The price index for basic metals alone declined by 3.6%.
