LONDON (Alliance News) - Pets at Home Group PLC announced Thursday the appointment of United Utilities PLC's William Hewish as chief information officer.

Hewish, who will join in "early 2019", has been working in United Utilities' technology, data, and business change teams for the past six years.

His new role at Pets at Home is newly set up, the company said. He has previously worked in technology roles at Lloyds Pharmacy, DeVere Hotels, and Booker.

Chief Executive Peter Pritchard said: "I am delighted to have recruited someone of William's calibre to take on our new role of chief information officer, an appointment which now completes our group executive team.

"William's knowledge will play a key role in supporting the strategic IT needs of our business as we move towards a more integrated, digitally-led approach. William has the experience and know-how to help integrate our digital platforms, build systems that are fit for the future and in turn help us better serve the needs of pet owners."

Pets at Home shares were 2.8% lower on Thursday morning at a price of 116.82 pence each.
