BG Bounces Back from Tough 1Q, Future Brightens

BG Group got back on track in the second quarter but we still think its value lies with its future growth in Brazil and Australia

BG Group (BG.) reported a 27% increase in second-quarter earnings from the same period a year ago as the company got back on track after a difficult first quarter that was marred by maintenance in the North Sea, flooding in Australia, and political upheaval in Egypt and Tunisia.

While the second-quarter results impressed, we still feel the value in BG lies with its future growth in Brazil and Australia, and management comments in the earnings release and conference call reinforced our view.
