As I recently wrote, we've significantly enhanced the Morningstar Fund Awards for 2008. You can read all the details here, but we did not want to simply reward strong short-term performance. After all, anyone can get lucky for a year or two. Instead we demanded that funds deliver strong long-term returns in addition to good performance over the past year, and reasonable risk relative to offerings in their peer groups. Institutional funds or share classes are ineligible, because we think a fund should be able to show it can succeed even while bearing the full charges paid by retail investors.

The final awards decisions have already been determined by these criteria--and our

qualitative judgment--and will be announced on Tuesday 18 March, but who do you think should win? Here's your chance to tell us: We've listed the funds that ranked highest according to our quantiative criteria in each category below, so just select your favourite in each category and press the "Vote" button.
