Following a recent Morningstar Analyst Ratings Meeting, the Aberdeen multi-manager funds (Aberdeen Multi-Manager Diversity, Aberdeen Multi-Manager Select Boutiques, Aberdeen Multi-Manager Cautious Managed, Aberdeen Multi-Manager Distribution, Aberdeen Multi-Manager Balanced Managed, Aberdeen Multi-Manager Equity Managed Portfolio, and Aberdeen Multi-Manager Constellation) have been given Neutral Ratings. The funds were previously Under Review following Aberdeen’s takeover of SWIP. Mark Harris and Simon Wood were given responsibility for all of these funds (previously they only managed the SWIP Multi-Manager Diversity Fund and the SWIP Multi-Manager Select  Boutiques Fund, each re-labelled Aberdeen), taking over from Graham Duce and Aidan Kearney. Harris and Wood’s track record managing the Aberdeen Multi-Manager Diversity and Aberdeen Multi-Manager Select Boutiques was mixed, and generally disappointing since 2008. The addition of a significant asset allocation input from Aberdeen’s global strategy team, and the move to focus on performance relative to peers (rather than absolute returns), could help the managers get back on track, but it is too early to judge at present.
