Following a recent Morningstar Analyst Ratings Meeting, we have downgraded Neptune Balanced to a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of Neutral. The fund was previously rated Silver. Neptune Balanced is managed against the IA Mixed Investment 40-85% Shares peer group, but has not invested outside of equities in recent years. In contrast peers have taken a more sophisticated approach to their fixed income allocation and have also invested more in alternatives. Neptune has been less able to take advantage of opportunities outside of equities because it lacks dedicated support on fixed income and/or alternatives, and has therefore held at least 15% in cash for several years, which has handicapped performance at times.
