Smart beta strategies have gained a lot of attention in recent years, and more and more smart beta ETFs are being launched in Europe. In fact, not satisfied with smart beta, there are moves to adopt even smarter beta strategies.

To help you understand the ins and outs of 'smart beta', Hortense Bioy, Morningstar's European director of passive funds research hosted a free webinar featuring several industry specialists to discuss ETFs, smart beta strategies and how the professional investors make the most of these products.

Attendees of the webinar were able to pose questions to the live panel; if you missed the webinar you can listen to the recording here

The webinar addressed these questions:

  • What exactly are these alternative beta strategies?
  • Are they better than the traditional market cap-weighted approach or just different?
  • What are the pitfalls?
  • How can these strategies be integrated into one’s investment process?
