Threadneedle Buys Convivo Capital Management

Threadneedle Asset Management acquired London-based Convivo Capital Management Monday, beefing up its hedge fund presence and emerging market operations. Convivo, manages a combined $476m in its Emerging Opportunities Fund and its Absolute Sovereign High Yield Fund. The latter fund gained notoriety in the UK, according to the FT, back when it was established at Aberdeen in 1999 because it was the only fund to specialize in debt issued by countries including North Korea and Iraq. Threadneedle now manages $3bn across nine hedge fund strategies, with three of those in emerging marketes.
