LONDON (Alliance News) - Intellectual property investor Tekcapital PLC on Friday reported good news for investee Guident Ltd in Florida.

Florida, on Wednesday, approved a bill legalising self-driven cars in the state, as well as also allowing the interaction with the vehicles on smartphone apps.

Guident commercialises technologies used in autonomous vehicles and drones.

Guident Chair Harald Braun said: "Guident welcomes this visionary decision. With this bill, Florida has made a tremendous step forward in enabling the market for autonomous vehicles and their control using mobile devices."

"This is consistent with the mission of Guident and its intellectual property."

"One of the main criteria for market success of autonomous vehicles is government willingness to regulate and support development. Today's bill clearly shows a commitment by the state of Florida to the autonomous vehicle and mobility market, and the opportunities it provides for on-demand services," Braun added.

Tekcapital shares were 0.8% higher on Friday at a price of 11.49 pence each.
