WASHINGTON (Alliance News) - A lawyer for US President Donald Trump denied media reports Tuesday that Deutsche Bank had been subpoenaed by the special counsel investigating Russian interference in the US presidential election.

"We have confirmed that the news reports that the special counsel had subpoenaed financial records relating to the president are false," lawyer Jay Sekulow said in a statement.

"No subpoena has been issued or received. We have confirmed this with the bank and other sources."

German daily Handelsblatt had first reported that the bank, which has long-standing ties to Trump's businesses, had received a subpoena from special counsel Robert Mueller for information in Trump's financial dealings.

The White House referred all questions about the matter to Sekulow.

Mueller's probe has resulted in charges and plea agreements involving several former aides as it focuses on possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
