LONDON (Alliance News) - Additional police have been deployed at British mosques to protect Muslims following a van attack on worshippers near a north London mosque, UK Prime Minister Theresa May said.

The attack on Finsbury Park Mosque was a "sickening attempt" to destroy the freedom to worship, May said outside Downing Street, the prime minister's office in central London.

"It was an attack that once again targeted the ordinary and the innocent ... this time British Muslims," she said, referring to recent terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

"Hatred and evil of this kind will never succeed," May said.
