LONDON (Alliance News) - Bushveld Minerals Ltd on Wednesday said it has been granted an integrated environmental authoritisation by the South African Mineral Resource Department for its vanadium project in Mokopane, Limpopo.

Bushveld compiled the environmental impact assessment, which led to the authoritsation on Wednesday, as part of its mining right application submitted March 12, 2015.

The next step in the mining right application process is the receipt of the approval regarding Bushveld's mine works programme and its social and labour plan.

"The Mokopane vanadium project remains a key part in the company's vanadium strategy and offers meaningful synergies with the Vametco [vanadium project in South Africa] being pursued. The integrated environmental authoritisation is a crucial step in the approval process for a mining right application. We welcome this important approval," said Chief Executive Fortune Mojapelo.

"We welcome this important approval, the next step will be the approval of the mine works programme and the social and labour plan. These will pave the way for the granting of the mining right," Mojapelo added.

Shares in Bushveld were down 0.1% at 1.35 pence on Wednesday.
