Tip #1
If it's shares that gets you excited then make sure you explore the middle column of our Equities page to find director dealings, news alerts, top performers, and many other useful metrics. To research a specific stock, use the search box at the top of all Morningstar.co.uk pages to search by company name or ticker. Simply select your chosen stock from the dropdown list that appears and you'll be taken to that company's Stock Report. Let's take a look at BP (BP.), for example: From BP's Stock Report you can access the oil major's share price performance chart, a synopsis of broker sentiment towards the stock, key ratios, and--for Premium subscribers--Morningstar's independent research report, including fair value estimate and financial health assessment.

Tip #2
Use the search box in the same way as for stocks to find investment trusts or visit our Investment Trusts page for all relevant metrics, news and research. Morningstar Research is usually a Premium feature but in January 2012 we launched analyst-driven research ratings for UK investment trusts and we're making this free to all users while we expand coverage. Click on the 'Morningstar Analyst Rating' column of our Investment Trust Quickrank tool to see trusts ranked from Gold, through Silver, Bronze and Neutral, down to Negative. There are similar Quickrank tools on the Equities, Funds, ETFs and ISA pages too.

Tip #3
Morningstar.co.uk has a great Portfolio Manager tool that enables you to create and track your portfolio. It's free, though upgrading to Premium enables you to X-Ray your portfolio and see at a glance how your assets are allocated across all your investments.

Tip #4
For timely and relevant investment news and commentary, be sure to watch the home page and search our online article archive for the topics you're interested in. We also regularly publish video interviews with eminent industry professional as well as our own analysts--check out the Video Centre to watch these at your leisure.

Tip #5
Once registered at Morningstar.co.uk, click 'My Account' at the top of any page to sign up for our daily newsletter, our weekly 'Editor's Picks', or any of our five monthly thematic newsletters covering portfolio management tips, equities, funds, and more.

We'll continue to publish top tips for all Morningstar.co.uk users. In the meantime, should you have any questions take a quick look at our Frequently Asked Questions section, or if you need some assistance please complete this form and our Client Support team will contact you directly.
