Fidelity Asian Values - Neutral

FUND RESEARCH UPDATE: Rating moved to Neutral

David Holder 29 February, 2016 | 7:01AM

Following a recent Morningstar Analyst Ratings Meeting we have moved the Fidelity Asian Values (FAS) investment trust to a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of Neutral. The fund was previously Under Review following the appointment of Nitin Bajaj who replaced longstanding manager John Lo in April 2015. Previously the trust held a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of Bronze. Under Bajaj the focus of the trust has now changed to predominately smaller company investment within Asia ex Japan with a value bias.   It is early in Bajaj’s tenure and we feel that his appointment holds promise for investors here. The approach is differentiated within the peer group; however returns are likely to be more volatile given the smaller companies focus which may limit its wider appeal to investors. Given his short tenure here and his relative inexperience in utilising the investment trust structure we have awarded the trust a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of Neutral.
