Following a recent Morningstar Analyst Ratings meeting, we have downgraded the Newton Multi-Asset Balanced fund to a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of Bronze. The fund was previously rated Silver. Iain Stewart managed the fund single-handedly from January 2005 until he was joined by co-manager Matthew Brown in February 2013. Mr Brown has been given ultimate day-to-day management responsibility, with Mr Stewart overseeing the portfolio’s macro positioning. Our conviction in the fund has waned as a result of Mr Stewart’s diminishing involvement, however, we still believe the fund has merit.
