On March 19th, Morningstar will celebrate those fund managers and their colleagues who have successfully led their funds to reward long-term investors.

Morningstar’s European Fund Manager of the Year Awards draw upon the qualitative analysis of our 30-member Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) manager research team to recognise the best fund managers.

The awards are presented in three categories:

Fund Manager of the Year: European Equity
Fund Manager of the Year: Global Equity
Fund Manager of the Year: European Fixed-Income

“Our awards recognise the very best fund managers in Europe for their excellent stewardship of fund shareholder capital over the long term,” Christopher Traulsen, CFA, Director of Manager Research, EMEA, said. “Our analysts’ expert qualitative research on more than 1,400 offerings available to investors across Europe has provided the foundation for these awards and allowed us to identify those managers whom we believe stand out amongst their peers.”

Morningstar’s EMEA manager research team, consisting of manager research analysts in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Finland, Denmark and Norway, nominates fund managers for the Morningstar European Fund Manager of the Year awards. To qualify for a nomination, at least one fund under a manager’s leadership must be a Morningstar Medallist—a fund that has garnered a Morningstar Analyst Rating of Gold, Silver or Bronze. A fund manager may be nominated providing the fund associated with his or her nomination is available for sale in at least one European market.
