Following the Morningstar OBSR Analyst Ratings Meeting on 9th October 2014, we have downgraded the Baring Eastern Europe fund to a Morningstar OBSR Analyst Rating™ of Bronze. The fund previously held a Silver rating. Although the fund’s manager, Ghadir Abu Leil-Cooper, has been in situ for an extended period of time, there have been some changes to the team in recent years. Furthermore, the manager’s disappointing stock selection has resulted in a period of sustained underperformance which has led to a deterioration of the fund’s risk-return profile. We therefore believe a Bronze rating is a better reflection of our conviction in the fund at the current time.
