Snapshot: UK Economy and Stock Market

Morningstar economist Jose Garcia-Zarate takes a quick look at growth expectations for the UK economy and domestically-focused companies

Jose Garcia Zarate: The consensus is that the UK economy will grow at over 3% both in 2014 and 2015, mostly owing to the strength of domestic demand. However, there are some headwinds – international headwinds coming our way and that should be reflected in, is already being reflected in the equity market valuations.

So going forward, perhaps for investors looking at the UK economy should focus on those companies that have a very strong bias to the domestic component of the economy.
